Yin: female, water, night, cold, south, left Yang: male, fire, day, hot, north, right Zuko and Katara's relationship is about balance. A friend of mine cant stand "zutara" because she says water and fire dont mix, their are opposites, it could never work! Well male and female are opposites and she doesnt let that keep her away from her boyfriend ^_~. my point is: in times of peace, the fact that he is fire nation and she is water tribe means nothing. the war is over. And together they balance eachother. Like the season finale of book 1. Zuko tells katara "you rise with the moon, but i rise with the sun" the conflict between them was because of the war, not who they were as people. this is my big arguement. and if you are kataangers: we get it you already won, so there really isnt any point in arguing with me. the series is over and i'm just indulging in a little zutara photoshop fun. i wanted to put out there that maybe this is part of the reason we were drawn to a match like katara and zuko, it wasnt impossible...just improbably considering how far her relationship with aang grew over three seasons, there was no TIME for katara to develope far enough of a relationship with zuko. thats all... zuko & katara (c) mike, brian, and Nickelodeon "Balance" art (c) MINE! On the subject of Katara not having time for a relationship with Zuko, here's my opinion:
Katara spent more time with Aang than she did with Zuko; this much is true. However, once Zuko switched sides and later went on his mission with Katara to hunt down YonRha, they formed more of a connection in those few lapsed days than Katara and Aang had over the course of the entire year they spent together (add that to the connection of their lost mothers that they discovered in Old BaSingSe).
Plus, on Ember Island, Katara clearly stated that (even if she did love Aang the way he "loved" her) she wasn't ready for a romantic relationship during the War. Even if she loved Aang, she didn't want a relationship with him (which is exactly why I was so p*ssed of at the Kataang ending in the finale! It came out of f*ckin' nowhere!)

i dont dislike anyone how favors kataang, thats great, they had a perfectly legit relationship...i just think with zutara there was something more, much more potential...

Zutara just seems more realistic to me. The way I see it, there's one little thing missing from Kataang which, in the real world, would cause it to just...not work. That one thing that's missing: conflict. All genuine long-term relationships have at least one major conflict at some point or another.
Conflict in a relationship, about half the time, results in an emotional breakup that both sides later regret, and the two will usually get back together, more passionate than ever. Kataang doesn't have this advantage. Zutara, on the other hand, has plenty of conflict and leftover subconscious hostility between both participants to keep it going for years

I have nothing against Kataang shippers who have the decency to not force their ship on others, or who are willing to have a civilized conversation about why they prefer Kataang over Zutara.
It's the ones who just flame you, insisting that they're better just because they're canon, that I think deserve to have their leg hairs torn out by the root via duct tape.

i think if i ever dated someone who NEVER disagreed with me, and everything was always peachy keen, i would go insane.
you put it nicely zutara realtionship is more realistic, truer to real human behavior. but the problem is/was that we were dealing with fantasy where mike and brian had control over...everything.
